Little Blue Truck By Alice Schertle
Our construction sensory bin.
These little guys are cool. You pull the rock on the yellow dump truck and the truck shakes. You pull the Orange triangle on the blue crane and that truck shakes.
We used "dump" from the story to make tracks in our sensory bags.
Using our construction trucks to make tracks in the paint.
Our zig-zag track supports gross motor skills! Just zig zag some painters tape across your floor and see if your child wants to trace it with their cars. One way to invite children to play, is to just model the activity you are trying to get them to do. If I just put the tape down with the cars, Love Bug might not know what I wanted her to do with it. But I sat down on the floor and did the activity with the cars myself. When she seen what I was doing, she wanted to do it too.
Painting with Lego duplos! Bright colored paint on black paper is gorgeous!
Our language development picture cards. We just use these cards to look at, and to talk about. I described them to her, and point out different things. ("The construction lady is wearing a yellow hat to be safe" "ooohhhh, those signs say danger!")
We constructed with our books! We built them up and we knocked them down- over and over and over and over and....
We took our construction vehicles outside, where they belong! ;)
And of course we had to give our construction vehicles a good cleaning!
