Planting and Gardenening

*Planting A Rainbow by Lois Ehlert

Her discovery basket has laminated pictures of things you would see in the spring- butterflies, rainbows, bees, birds, flowers, etc. Here she is doing her favorite activity...rearranging her flowers.

I have been wanting to do this activity FOREVER! I finally set up the Spring Flower Garden sensory bin! I used black beans, fake flowers, some garden tools, a couple of disposible plantars, and even a couple of plastic easter eggs.

It was a huge hit!

She turned the plantar upside down and started putting the black beans through the holes. She turned this into a fine motor activity all on her own! :)

She filled up an easter egg with black beans and it became a musical shaker!

We used a fake flower from our sensory bin to do a little process art painting.

*The Little Gardener By Jan Gerardi

A couple of weeks ago we threw some wildflower seeds in the planter. They are starting to grow! We loved seeing the new growth daily.

We tried our hand at celery stamping. It was a lot messier than anticipated, and she honestly didn't have any interest in using the celery, so it turned into a finger/body painting project. :) But we had fun and it's about the PROCESS, not the PRODUCT! ;)

We ended up painting the celery and our hands/arms. 😐😂😁

What Will The Weather Be Like Today

Spring time really is my FAVORITE part of the year! And I have SOOOOO many activities for spring!

I cut out clouds, raindrops, and umbrella shapes. Put some glue in a bowl with a paint brush and let her make her own rainy day collage. I added a couple of lightning bolts after she was finished. :)

We explored clouds using cotton balls. I let her pull them apart and glue them to a piece of paper that I had glued a cut out of the sun on, making a partly cloudy day.

Farmers Market Day

Farmers Market Day By Shanda Trent

We made a squirrel feeder for the squirrels that live in the trees in front of our house.

One came out to eat!

Lovebug watching the squirrel eat the food that we gave it. What a great learning experience for her.

We filled up our sandbox with sand for the first time. Love Bug is a little hesitant about it. :)

Our pretend cutting fruits.

"Writing" out out list.

No mess window finger painting.

Wake Up, It's Spring

Wake Up, It's Spring By Lisa Campbell Ernst

Playing with her cards.

Her pretend play/ small world area that I set up. Super cheap and easy, as I just colored a pond, some flower patches, and a tree....cut them out...laminated them...and let her play. :)

A touch of shaving cream and a squirt of washable paint, and you have yourself a sensory bin.

I put a sheet of poster board on the side of the tub and let her use her shaving cream paint to do some art in the tub.

And of course, after that mess... everybody needs a bath!
