The Big Red Barn/ On The Farm

The Big Red Barn by Margaret Wise Brown

We just got a (pre-loved) Little People Farm play set and it goes perfectly with The Big Red Barn book. Love Bug is really picking up on the animals and their sounds. She says cow, moo, duck, quack, pig, oink, baa (but doesn't say sheep yet), neigh (doesn't say horse yet either) dog, woof, cat, and meow. Pretty impressive farm animal vocabulary for a 19 month old! :)

We did some water sensory play and gave our farm animals a much needed bath!

A bucket of soapy water for washing and a bucket of clean water for rinsing.

Just add a toddler and something that needs washed!

We sang "This is the way we wash our <insert animal name>" song while cleaning away. 😍🎶

We used leftover spinach in a basket for some sensory tub fun.

And when we were done with the spinach for the day, we loaded it up to take out back to feed the wild rabbits that roam our yard.

Of course empty buckets go on your head! Duh! 😇

A fun and easy gross motor activity...sliding/bowling into farm animals! She thought this was pretty funny.
