Home Made Games

I really dislike having book jackets on my hardcover books. I always take them off, but I never throw them away. Instead, I cut them up and use them! There are some good uses for book jackets. You can laminate them and apply a magnet to create your own magnets. You can modge podge them to some blocks. You can make a board game.

Speaking of board games. I want to give you permission right now to never buy a board game. You really don't need to. I make all of my own board games using print outs and/or book jackets!

This is my Pete The Cat board game that I made. SO EASY! The best part, is you can make it as easy or difficult as your child needs it to be.

This was the board game I made for my preschool class with the theme of Big Red Barn in mind. Children don't even realize they are learning math while they play this game!

Another type of board game. This is a two player game, where each player takes a turn rolling the dice until they get the fox to the hen house. I used large dice that only goes up to three. This is an excellent and fun way to teach math to early learners.

Another type of board game, this grid game is played by two people who take turns rolling the dice and placing a small stone (or any other small object) on a square until their whole grid is filled up.

A matching math game! You can use any kind of shape or cutout you want. It happened to be around Valentines day when I made this game, thus the heart shapes.
